Big Moose

This morning I was able to see my very first bull moose. We were working in the kitchen when over the radio we heard, "Ahh, there's a moose walkin' on the back property if anyone wants to take a look." So we ran out the back door, and sure enough, there he was!! Up on the hill, just passing through camp. It was great...he was huge! Most everyone on camp came running to the back field to see our visitor. Now, all I need to see is a grizzly bear and a wolf, and my list will be complete :) Except, I hope I don't run into a bear today--we cooked bacon all morning long, and I pretty much smell like a piece of bacon myself. haha.
Yesterday (and today) was a gorgeous day. The sun shone all day, with the mountains basking in a deep blue sky that seems to just go on forever! Joe and I took the high school crew on a hike back to camp falls. A beautiful hidden waterfall that is up the mountain here at camp. It was fun to begin to make connections with them and hopefully create some wonderful friendships and mentoring opportunities. Joe is really enjoying meeting new people and looking after his "boys" on the crew. They are working hard every day trying to get the grounds ready for 3rd and 4th grade camp next week. He is the "Mr. Fix-it-man" here at camp, a responsibility he didn't really prepare to have. But he is learning so many new skills, like how to fix a furnace, and pool pipes, and van engines, and how to drive a bus! As you can imagine, he is lovin' all of that, too.
We are taking a staff trip to Billings tomorrow...how exciting! It will be one of a few trips to the 'outside world' that we will take, so everyone is gearing up:) Montana is a beautiful place, and we are so blessed to experience this summer out here. We are praying that God will give us the words as we spread his truth and love and the new things he is teaching us. Well, i think i am going to head outside to enjoy the sunshine a bit. I don't have to be back in the kitchen until 4:00...we have to prepare some corn bread for dinner! ( I really do think i am learning some kitchen skills that will stick with me...this is a very good thing, especially for the husband :) Adios, mis amigos! Que Dios les bendigos.

HAHA! We haven't seen any big animals like that just yet--hopefully soon. We want to do some traveling pretty soon to northern Idaho (Cour d'alene). We've heard it's gorgeous.
